Welcome to Yellowknife Freemasons

The home of Freemasonry in Yellowknife

Welcome to Yellowknife Lodge #162 under the Grand Registry of Alberta. We are part of one of the oldest secular, social, and charitable organizations in the world. Its roots are traced back to the medieval stonemasons who constructed castles and cathedrals.

For many years Freemasons have followed three great principles and believe that these principles represent a way of achieving higher standards in life. They are:

  • Brotherly Love – Every true Freemason will show tolerance and respect for the opinions of others and behave with kindness and understanding to his fellow creatures.
  • Relief – Freemasons are taught to practice charity and to care – not only for their own – but also for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.
  • Truth – Freemasons strive for truth, requiring high moral standards and aiming to achieve them in their own lives.

The Freemasons upholds these core values, which help shape the members’ life paths. These values remain relevant in today’s world, characterized by uncertainty, as they have throughout the organization’s history.

Membership is open to men over 21 from all backgrounds, and the aim of the organization is to empower members to achieve their full potential by building character, offering individual support, and enabling them to make a positive contribution to society.

Freemasonry provides a platform for members to come together under these shared objectives, allowing them to form new friendships, enhance personal growth, and make significant contributions to charitable causes.

“We are the human family, together we are ONE. We’re here to lift one another up, not tear each other down.”
